Eternal Life, the crown of life is God's gift to those who love Him and it is given through the Lord Jesus Christ. Thus,  Eternal Life is in Christ Jesus because it is only to Him that God gave authority over all people so He will give Eternal Life to as many as God will give to Him.  But many people have a wrong notion on who will be saved and given Eternal Life. Let us continue our study of the scriptures so we may come to know the truth and understand who are these people whom God will give to Christ so they maybe given Eternal Life.

God sets apart the godly for Himself

1C.1   Are there people whom God will set apart for Himself?

In Psalms 4:3, this is written:

But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; The Lord will hear when I call to Him. (NKJV)

YES, the Lord sets apart for Himself him who is godly.

1C.2   How will the godly people be set apart by God?

In John 6:44, this is written:

No man can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. (NKJV)

God the Father draw the godly people and give them to Jesus Christ.

God gives the godly to Jesus

1C.3   Where will God draw the godly people that He will give to Jesus Christ.

In John 17:6, Jesus said these things in His prayer to the Father:

I have revealed your name to those whom you took from the world to give me.  They were yours and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. (NJB)

God draw the godly people from the world and give them to Jesus. These are the people being set apart by God for Himself. As Jesus said, "They are yours and you gave them to me".

1C.4   Can Christ reject anyone given to Him by God?

In John 6:37, Christ Himself gave this assurances:

All that the Father gives me will come to me and the one who comes to me I will by no means cast out. (NKJV)

The same verse in the New Jerusalem Bible:

Everyone whom the Father gives me will come to me; I will certainly not reject anyone who comes to me, (NJB)

Jesus gave His assurance that He will certainly not reject or cast out anyone that is given to Him by God.

1C.5   What will Christ give to the people, that are given to Him by God?

In John 17:2, Jesus said this in His prayer to the Father in heaven:

just as you gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to all you gave him. (NAB)

As God gave Jesus authority over all people, Jesus may give eternal life to all that God will give to Him.

Lesson 30A - Why God sets apart men to serve Him

__________

The Lord God sets apart for Himself him who is godly (Ps. 4:3). From the world, God the Father draws the godly people and give them to Jesus Christ (Jn. 6:44). These godly people are being set apart by God for Himself. As Jesus said, "They are yours and you gave them to me" (Jn.17:6). Thus, Jesus gave His assurance that He will certainly not reject or cast out anyone that is given to Him by God (Jn 6:37), because God has given Him authority so He may give eternal life to them (Jn.17:2).

Clearly then, eternal life is not for all people, as many people believe it to be, but is intended for the godly people drawn from the world by God and given to the Lord Jesus Christ.
