"Questions To Ponder" Home

Please note carefully that "Questions To Ponder" are not intended to give offense to anyone but it is solely given to stimulate one's thinking in order to arrive at the true meaning of a verse.

How should anyone comprehend the true meaning of a verse or verses?

The great Apostle Paul clearly teaches:

Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God. (II Peter1:20-21, NAB)

First of all, everyone must understand that. . . . . "no prophecy in the scripture is a matter of personal interpretation" . . . . because no prophecy ever came through human will.

If "no prophecy in the scripture is a matter of personal interpretation", then, . . .
how then should anyone try to figure out the meaning of a verse?
Apostle Paul also teaches:

"Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself  and Apollos for your benefit,  so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying,  "Do not go beyond  what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. (I Corinthians 4:6, NIV)

In trying to figure out the meaning of the verse, Apostle Paul clearly advise anyone studying the scriptures. . .  "not to go beyond what is written" . . . or not to go father than what is in the holy writings.

In line with the above teachings, the "Questions to Ponder" are are given to stimulate one's thinking in order to arrive at the true meaning of the verse by staying within the limits taught by the Apostles. It should be for everyone's interest, not to inject "personal opinions" and/or "speculations on what God and Jesus Christ will do and will not do" in the verse or verses that are being studied, for it is contrary to the biblical teachings as clearly explained by Apostle Paul.
